Light Memories is a first-person narrative game in which the player has to explore a hotel while following the instructions given by the owner through the speakers. The game revolves around the use of black and white lights that make elements appear or disappear in the environment, thus allowing the completion of environmental puzzles to progress both in situ and in the story.
The game has been developed during my bachelor degree's graduation project at e-artsup.
- The project had a lot of potential but the development suffered from a lot of issues, which resulted in a large part of the content being cut. The last floor rooms were entirely reworked late into the production to implement the full story despite having to removed an entire additional floor that couldn't have been ready in time.
- The project was very heavy both on the shaders side and to update every objects' physics based on what was visible or not, especially with moving light sources like the flashlight. Unity was not suited for this out of the box, so we had to rely on Amplify Shaders Editor which has been very useful as more as the team finally got familiar with it.
